 Iraq   633 CE

Our caliph, Abu Bakr worried about potential retaliations from those who lived nomadic lifestyles. His end goal was to be able to go after Persia but we had to begin with Iraq and Syria. This would make it easier to go around the two large empires and would protect our borders. Iraq was known to be a paradise with rich soil and moderate climates. Some so many people wanted Iraq. At the time, we were under the command of Khalid Ibn Al-Walid. We were directed to go to the town of Walaja. This is where our commander split us into three regiments of 6000 men. These divisions are what usually help us succeed in conquering. As we began to engage in battle with the Persians, the Persian leader, Hormuz, challenged Khalid to a duel.

The fight was severe but it wasn't long-lasting. Our commander had cut off Hormuz’s head and as soon as this happened the Persians immediately began to fight for the death of their leader but we were prepared to fight back.

In Ollay's, we fought a hard battle. There were a great number of people who sought out revenge for Walajah but with our commander Khalid, it wasn’t easy. Even towns close by were impacted by our army. The capital of Iraq at the time was called Al-Heerah and after the battle of Ollay's, many rebels suck refugees in Al-Heerah. Once we had arrived, our commander had murdered the governor's son, and shortly after the governor ran away. The people who were left put up a great fight. The fight went on for so long before treaties went up for negotiation. Although these peace treaties allowed places between the Arabian Gulf and Al-Heerah to pass under Muslim control, Iraq wasn't considered conquered under the rule of Abu Bakr. Our commander was able to lay a steady foundation for our future conquests.
