Persia 632 CE
As it is known, our leader is eager to go beyond the Arabian peninsula to spread Islam, one of his many goals was to bring Islam into Persia. Specifically, the Sassinade territory, which is where the Persians reside. Although our army was known to be mighty, we were still weary of the Persians. The Persians were considered to be powerful for many centuries. In 633 CE, our army, under the command of Khalid Ibn Walid, made our first attack on the Sassanid Territory. We did this by invading Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is considered to be the political and economic center of the Sassanid empire, we knew this would have a big impact on the empire.

After the death of Abu Bakr, we knew we had to continue the Islamic expansion. After Abu Bakr, we were put under the command of Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas. With Saad, we invaded again in 636 CE. This won us a victory at the Battle of Qadisiyyah which dismantled Sasanian control of west Iran. For the longest time the mountains over us, the Zagros, became a barrier between the Rashidun Caliphate and the Sassinade empire. This was until 642 CE when our Caliph at the time, Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, ordered an invasion of the Sasanian Iranian empire. The conquering of Persia was not difficult but it also was not peaceful. The many battles we fought are what caused most of the Sasanian empire to fall under Islamic control. By 651 CE many of the Iranian lands were controlled by our armies. We stayed in Persia for a while because of the continued rebellions, but soon a majority of Persia was able to accept Islam. I will say that easing the rebellions didn’t work by campaigning but it took violence, and in the end, Islam became a dominant religion in Persia.
